Voyeur’s Instruction

By Alrisha Shea From Issue No. 5

i.

watch me hang from my brain’s

suspended cortex

watch my toes stretch and

tremble to avoid any

blunt-force trauma

watch spinal fluid drip from my nostrils

watch as i writhe on the x and y axis

slam me to the sidewalk and pick

the gooey viscera from my teeth;

dump my body into the tar-river

i loved so dearly. oh, how we’ll

crucify anything we can. oh, how

we’ll hang from our cerebellums.

watch me hang from my brain’s

suspended cortex

watch my toes stretch & stretch & stretch & stretch

ii.

oh watch me please watch me watch

me; pockmark my skin with eyes

and pockmark my paleness with knives

and carve twelve little numbers with knives

and turn me into some timepiece, watch

me twist my hands as your eyes

trace the time counterclockwise, eyes

worldwide drift upward cut by eyelid knives

and they close their eyes to watch me watching

me oh please let our lovely memory

falter and hold no grudge as it goes
