Sängerkrieg: minstrel contest / myth / death sentence

By Hannah Kroonblawd From Issue No. 5

city on a hill

hunting songs

how one hunts deer

or pheasant by taking aim

taught  taut

or taken in

tapestry unraveling

into executioner’s rope

string strung  strong

one plays the lute

another the lyre

this music

a war

melody

more than mercy

graveyard flowering

all winter long
