bloodsnow my legs stumping toward me
you cannot lock the door on him
he’ll wave unkindled
the dreaded fur buckled and gloss
married into ironwood
stapled into sheets beasts will howl
their nails through
back to wandering underground
find tongue for bloodroot
but snow grew
and chimed
tree
fell
into lightning mask
breathed
shattered
calf
prowled
out
the scars
of a hem
climbing the bank
under the other foot and
the unfolded sheet was empty
